WINNER OF NUMEROUS HONORS, GRANTS AND AWARDS, ANTONIO HAS BEEN INTERNATIONALLY RECOGNIZED FOR HIS WORK.
1986 - Rio ’86 exhibit at McAllen International Museum in McAllen, Texas
1988 - Won best of show in the university’s student art show, and the city of McAllen’s Rio ’88 exhibit
1989 - Graduated with a BFA from University of Texas Rio Grande Valley
1989 - First solo exhibits in Mexico in Reynosa, Tamaulipas, and at the City Museum of Saltillo, Coahuila
1990 - Worked as Guillermo Kahlo’s photography assistant
1991 - Selected to show in the National Ceramic Bienale in Mexico City’s Museum of Modern Art, Mexico’s National Art Exhibit for artists under 35 at the Carrillo Gil Museum, and was represented by the Misrachi, Siegel, and Kin galleries in Mexico City
1992 - First solo exhibit in Mexico City at the art gallery of SECOFI (Secretaria de Comercio y Fomento Industrial)
1994 - Curated and participated in an exhibit of contemporary Mexican artists at his studio in Mixcoac, Mexico City featuring among others the work of Guillermo Kahlo, Gabriel Kuri, Maribel Portela, and Guillermo Rangel
1995 - Moved to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to do a five year artist’s residence at the Clay Studio
1996 to 2000 - showed in many collectives in Philadelphia, New York, Miami and Mexico City including two solo exhibits at the Clay Studio, one in 1997, and one in 2000
2000 - Began a Master’s degree in Ceramics at Temple’s Tyler School of Art and continued curatorial work with an exhibit called 6, inspired by the Guerrilla Girls featuring the work of six women artists in Old City Philadelphia, PA: featuring artists Meghan Driscoll, Monica Carrier, Candy Depew, Jury Smith, Lucy Pullen, and Cassondra Argeros
- Had second solo exhibit in Mexico City in the art gallery of the Secretaria de Contraloria y Desarrollo Administrativo.
2001 - Awarded scholarship from Tyler to study in Rome where he took a course on Vision and Rationality
2002 - Graduated with an MFA from Tyler School of Art and began teaching art at The Haverford School
2003 - Became Haverford’s art gallery manager and exhibitions curator
- Solo exhibit Appropriations from Rome at Haverford’s Brunt art gallery
2004 - Second 6 exhibit, 6 at the Quad, featuring Monica Carrier, Jury Smith, Candy Depew, Cassondra Argeros, Stephanie Grigg, and Heeseung Lee at the Haverford School
2005 - Solo exhibit, Rare Portraits on Clay at Brunt Gallery at the Haverford School
2006 - Solo Exhibit at the Embassy of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela in Washington D.C
2003 to 2010 - Curatorial work at Brunt gallery at the Haverford School included solo and collective exhibits featuring artists Max Mason, Randy Dalton, Marisha Simons, John Gwinn, Peter Seidel, Anne C. Wood, Andria C. Bibiloni, Sami Khela, Peter Kinney, and many others
2007 - Solo exhibit Serigraphy at the Brunt gallery
2010 - Solo exhibit “Tiles” at the Brunt gallery as part of NCECA (National Council on Education for the Ceramic Arts)
- Third 6 exhibit: 6-III*, a site specific, outdoor sculpture exhibit at the Haverford School as part of NCECA in Philadelphia featuring Theresa M. Saulin, Monica Carrier, Nancy Agati, Christa Naomi Merrick, Mary Beth Hughes, Tania O’Donnell, and Jenny Waring
